Apariciones is a series of works born from my love of street photography and a desire to explore how we are shaped by upbringing, culture, experiences and events. This started as a means of self-expression after losing my home, studio and body of work in a fire.
What started as a personal journal in the notes app of my smartphone, evolved into documenting people on the street and wondering what their story was. After capturing a snapshot, of which 90 percent are candid photos, I then extracted the subject from their original context and place them in an abstract setting.
By removing them from their everyday environment, the depiction transforms them saint-like figures and a more intimate encounter between the viewer and the subject.
