Wrongly portrayed as a villain is many European folktales.  Wolves are social creatures, loyal to their pack, work in teams and value family and community. They are noble, cooperative, caring and as fierce hunters, they are organized and hunt to feed their pack.  The concept of the alpha wolf and the lone wolf is also a fallacy. These negative depictions have turned the wolf into one of the most persecuted and endangered species we don't talk about.  
In Native American cultures, the spirit of the wolf  embodies loyalty, wisdom, strength, nurturing and strong family bonds, serving as a spiritual guide and revered symbol for many tribes. Those with the Wolf animal spirit are guided by the spirit of knowledge, heroism and creativity. But some tribes warn of a spiritual dark side and excess/appetite of your inner wolf.
